Tarot Tuesday! Pick Your Card from Shadowscapes Tarot

It’s time once again for Tarot Tuesday! The energy of Monday is cleared away, and it’s time to look toward the rest of the week.

This week’s pull is from Shadowscapes Tarot by Stephanie Pui-Mun Law and Barbara Moore. It’s a beautifully illustrated deck with a guidebook that reads like a fantasy novel.

If you’re interested in a reading of your own, please see the bottom of this post or come visit me on eBay.

Study the photo below and see which card calls to you (1, 2, or 3). You may want to know what the week holds for you in general, or you may have a specific question in mind. Regardless of what you want to know, let your spirit guide you on your card. You’ll find the cards and their meanings below.

#1 – The World: This card is letting you know that your goals are about to be reached. The struggles you’ve been moving through are about to come to an end. When this happens, give yourself a moment to take a deep breath and enjoy the beauty of nature around you. You’ve earned it!

#2 – Six of Swords: You’ve probably been finding yourself in a tough mental space lately. These tribulations may have really gotten you down, but the Six of Swords is here to let you know that the time for trouble is over. Things are only going to get better from here on out, as shown by the swan lifting the young man away from all that has worn him out in the world.

#3 – Seven of Pentacles: The suit of Pentacles is about earthly resources, which may be money, your body, or other physical things. This card suggests you’ve been working hard to make your dreams come to fruition, but you need to take a moment to pause and truly consider your options before you move forward. Should you pluck the fruit you’ve worked so hard to grow, or does it need to ripen on the vine a little longer? You’ll make the right decision as long as you don’t make it too quickly.

Which card did you pick? Did it mean anything for you? I’d love to know, so feel free to leave me a comment!

Book Review: The Reef by Nora Roberts

A fun and exciting adventure of a romance, The Reef is one of those novels that proves romance isn’t purely about human relationships.

From the Cover:  Tate Beaumont has a passion for treasure-hunting. Over the years, she and her father have uncovered many fabulous riches, but one treasure has always eluded them: Angelique’s Curse—a jeweled amulet heavy with history, dark with legend, and tainted with blood. In order to find this precious artifact, the Beaumonts reluctantly form a partnership with salvagers Buck and Matthew Lassiter.

As the Beaumonts and Lassiters pool their resources to locate Angelique’s Curse, the Caribbean waters darken with shadowy deceptions and hidden threats. Their partnership is placed in jeopardy when Matthew refuses to share information—including the truth behind his father’s mysterious death. For now, Tate and Matthew continue their uneasy alliance—until danger and desire begin to rise to the surface…

What I Loved:  I grabbed this book randomly from a shelf practically groaning with used books I’ve acquired over the years.  In fact, I had one of my kids randomly pick it for me because I just couldn’t decide.  It turned out to be a great choice.

The Reef dives into the world of treasure hunting, unraveling the tale of the Beaumonts and the Lassiters as they search for the ultimate treasure buried beneath the sea.  While of course boy-meets-girl is the main arc of the plot, there’s simply so much more that’s going on here!  Family history, old and new tragedy, gain and loss are all wonderfully told over the beautiful backdrops of the sea and sun.  The details that help paint the scenery and the background are a lot of what makes this book a real winner.

What I Didn’t Love:  Honestly, there’s not much!  I think I’d have preferred a slightly different ending, but I can’t say that I was unhappy with it.

Rating and Recommendation:  The Reef could be a great summer read or just one that makes you feel like it’s summer.  If you’re not sure about romance as a genre, The Reef just might change your mind. 5 stars.

Have you read The Reef or another book by Nora Roberts? I’d love to hear about it in the comments!

Tarot Tuesday! Pick Your Card from The Sacred Traveler Oracle

We’ve made it through Monday, and now it’s time for Tarot Tuesday! What does the rest of the week hold for you?

This week’s pull is from The Sacred Traveler Oracle by Denise Linn. The bold, otherworldly images on these cards really called out to me, and there’s just so much energy in these cards.

#1 – Taking Shelter: Now is the time for rest, recuperation, and repair. Replenish your inner resources and gather your energy. Whether you’ve been struggling or you know you have a big venture ahead, you need to take care of yourself to be able to handle it. This could be a good time to clear your home of clutter, make repairs, and get your house in order.

#2 – Traveling Lightly: We often end up accumulating things, people, and feelings that don’t serve us in the long run. It’s time to let them go and simplify. You need to give yourself the space to be able to tune in to the universe, and all that clutter is only standing in your way. You have a clear path, but you can’t take everything with you.

#3 – Embracing Enthusiasm: You don’t have to wait until you’ve reached your goal. You can be happy right now! Give a shout of joy, take a day off work, or just take a moment to fully appreciate all the good things you have around you. It’s okay to break a few rules or be silly!

Which card did you pick? Did it mean anything for you? I’d love to know, so feel free to leave me a comment!

Signed Book: Soul Catcher by Frank Herbert

Even though I’m still working through my Bookshelf Cleanout, there are some books that simply won’t be leaving my shelves anytime soon. Some of my favorites are those that’ve been signed by the author, of course! While I don’t have any amazing stories about meeting a famous writer, these books still mean a lot to me.

Soul Catcher came to me completely by accident. I was in a used bookstore, and I’d recently read the Dune series. I didn’t know a thing about this book, but being by the same author and only $1.55 was enough for me. In fact, I might’ve paid even less than that if I was trading books in that day.

I didn’t even realize it was signed until I got home, and I absolutely hit the ceiling with excitement! I couldn’t believe anyone would get rid of a book like this. I even love that he struck out the print version of his name before signing it. This all happened when I was a teenager, and I’ve managed to hold onto this book ever since.

Do you have any signed books? I have more I’ll be sharing in the coming months, but I’d love to hear about yours!
